The golden sand is the most remarkable signature of Lopar since it is present on 22 of the sandy beaches surrounding the town. Every July the biggest of them, Paradise Beach, becomes an open-air atelier for young artists who are building original sand sculptures for a whole week, during our Festival of Sand Sculptures. Inspired by the animal world, legends and cartoons or pure imagination, spectacular creatures emerge from the sand and rise in their glory for admiration of locals and visitors.

Since the building material is just sand and water, these artistic creations are perishable by nature and therefore more precious.
