Masked Dances from Bakar to Zlobin

The highlight of this year’s "fifth season" in the Bakar region is the traditional masked dances, which will take place in every single village within the City of Bakar.

Perhaps the most anticipated event is the Zvončari Parade, which has been held on Kukuljanovo for over a decade under the name "Bells and Song for the Bakar Region." This year's parade will take place on Saturday, January 25th, with the main procession starting at 2 pm. It promises to be a fitting climax to the Bakar carnival’s dedication to showcasing the region's rich carnival heritage and preserving its traditions.

The traditional burning of the "Mesopust" (Carnival Dummy) will take place on Tuesday, March 4th, in Bakar, Hreljin, Kukuljanovo, and Škrljevo. On Ash Wednesday, March 5th, the Mesopust will meet its fate in Krasica.

As per tradition, all carnival associations from the Bakar region will also participate in the Grand Rijeka Carnival.
